I have tried serveral online addreses to regester to pay on my account and each site gives me the run around for days so that the payment ends up being late ! I think many credit cards do this and ge money bank is one of them!!!

I am not suprised by all the complaints on this website! GE Money Bank is HORRIBLE! I opened a line of credit thinking the terms of the line of credit were 0% financing no payments due for one and all of a sudden I began recieving calls saying my payments were past due. I never recieved a bill from them with my account number or the amount due so I called in to clear things and was told that they were sending the bill to the wrong address and they would a new bill to the correct address as soon as possible. They advised I would not be penalized. Dispite me calling in to resolve the issue I recieved calls on the hour everyday until I made a payment by phone, in which I refused. I felt that I should have some type of something in writing before I begin to hand out payment information. Then I was charged a late fee. What really set me off is the line of credit was opened for appliances, they delivered the appliances to one address and then send the bill to another? On top of that harrase me for weeks and are extremely rude! I tend to finance a lot of merchandise in the next few years, just bought a house and planning a wedding. I refuse to utlize GE Money bank for any additional purchases, my credit is outstanding and I am not new to using credit. I know what these companies can and can not do and I am sure that there are many disatified consumer’s and I hoping to gather enough information to submit a Class Action suit. It one thing to be debtor and it one thing to be some one that has a excellent credit history and paying consumer. I am disapointed at the vendor ” Spencer Appliances and TV’s ” as I was not provided a copy of the contract terms ( I have now learned to always get a copy when signing) and I am extremley disapointed in GE Money Bank, they are extremely unprofessonal, rude and do not accomodate paying consumer’s in anyway. I understand the economy is bad and there are a lot of debtor’s out there, however when you are a month delinquent and it is sincerly a mis understanding, to be treated the way they treated me is not acceptable.

Unfortunately, duting all this mess I realized the carpet I purchased and financed is also through GE money Bank so now I have 2 lines of credit through them!

I am trying to dispute a charge with GE money. Has anyone had any success getting their money back from the merchant? I signed up for the card with the merchant.

YES!!!! all of the above! I am frightened. Everything I’ve read coincides with my own ongoing experience! It seems there is no end, no help, and no way out! I have found multiple other websites with all the same disputes and complaints against GEmoneybank. Shall we all unite? Rage against the machine?! maybe as a united front, we can make a legal difference?

I have several credit cards with this bank and have never had any problems until today. I have a 5,000 credit limit…went and used my 5,000 on medical and then 3 days later I have on my credit report that I am over my spending limit by 13.00!!! So now it shows potentially negative…I was told by a rep that there is nothing they can do. I asked to up my limit and was told, “I’m sorry ma’am, since you are over your credit limit we are unable to process your request for a limit increase”!!!! WTF!!! I did not spend over my limit, they put me over my limit by adding a finance charge
BEFORE I got my 1st F-ing bill!!!!!!!!! UUUGGGHHHH!!!!!

  • 6. Danielle    August 28th, 2008 at 3:52 pm

the reason that you are over the limit is because the of the finance charges you accrued everyday you carried that balance, you need to make an immediate payment more than the $13, pay around 100 or so to bring the acct current, do this over the phone, then once the payment has cleared, call the bank back and tell them you want to speak to a rates supervisor or manager, dont get off the phone til they give you one, tell them the situation and that you did not know you would go over your limit, tell them that you want them to “cure” the default rate and get you back to your original contract rate, also ask them as a one time courtesy to refund the Over limit fee($39) you must speak to a supervisor for all of this though… good luck

Thank you for all your help in this matter..

I BOUGHT A SELECT COMFORT BED AND IT WENT THROUGH G E MONEY BANK. I KEPT TRACK OF THE NO PAYMENTS FOR 18 MONTHS AND PAID THE BALANCE IN FULL BEFORE THE DUE DATE AND SAVED $1,700.00 IN INTEREST. THE THING TO DO IS MAKE SURE YOU PAY IT OFF BEFORE THE DUE DATE AND I CALLED CUSTOMER SERVICE AND DOUBLE CHECKED MY DUE DATE SO I HAD NO PROBLEM WITH THE COMPANY AND AM HAPPY WITH MY G E MONEY EXPERIENCE.

GE Money denied my application for credit through Amazon because they claim they couldn’t validate my identity.

When I called in to the number listed here I was surprised by how rude they really are on the phone. A manager actually hung up on me when I asked why GE Money Bank has such a poor reputation online.

Before she hung up on me she was kind enough to give me an address that she instructed me would be able to purge my information from their system. I requested that they do this for me on the phone but both the original representative and the manager told me that obliging my request was impossible. I have included that address here.

    Amazon.com/FCRA
    PO Box 981400
    El Paso, TX 79998

The funny thing to me is that after asking several times to have my information purged, the manager informed me that after 12 months it “falls out,” anyway. Why she couldn’t have said that to begin with bafles me.Of course I still requested she expedite this “falling out,” and she told me she couldn’t.

She did tell me that I would have to provide all the information I am asking to have them remove when I submit my written request.

After telling me that I had no right to ask them to purge my information because I submitted an application, the manager demanded to know why I didn’t want my information in their system. I told her very flatly that if they didn’t have the technical skill to validate my identity with all the information I gave them that I didn’t have any faith in their technical ability to also protect that information.

To say I’m breathing a sigh of releif that I wasn’t granted a line of credit with these people is an understatement.

Thanks for putting this site and this information together.

I bought a 4 wheeler with ge money bank. I received one payment and paid it on time with extra money included on it. They called me AT WORK saying I was two payments behind and needed to make a payment over the phone or the 4 wheeler would be repossessed. I refused because the check had cleared the bank and I received only one payment!!!! I regret financing with them already!!!!!

A truly incompetent, rude, unprofessional company. Stupid as well. I will never associate myself with these buffoons again even if they provided a free credit card. I was a loyal customer for years, always paying my charges on time and was not issued new cards when the old ones expired, the reason given was because the Post Office had returned “some kind of correspondence” twice to this company that was adreressed to me. I didn’t know the Post Office had returned anything and I certainly wasn’t informed by GE Money Bank that anything had been returned to them . I still don’t know “what” was returned or, indeed, if anything at all had not been delivered to me. A GE Money Bank employee in a previous phone inquiry made by wife said they didn’t know our address Funny, they always knew where to send the bill each month! They said “take it up with your Post Office”. Take what up? Where was the notice to me by GE Bank that there was a problem - no phone call, no letter, nothing - just no reissued cards! After wasting time from my business day to call them and after listening to interminable messages and tasteless background music, being placed on hold and being treated rudely by a moronic female manger who had no customer service skills whatsoever I told them to keep their cards. There are plenty of banks who offer cards, I don’t need GE Money Bank, in fact I never asked for them anyway. I shop at Brooks Brothers and took the card because they recommended it and it offered me some benefits with that company. GE Money Bank is a sorry institution and even though I consider myself a gentlemen, the rude and incompetent female manager angered me to end my conversation with her by stating “F__k You” and I meant it and don’t feel badly about it. People like her and her bank treat customers poorly all the time and get away with it. This is one person who is tired of it and willing to let them know exactly how I feel! The arrogance displayed by her and others in financial institutons is what has gotten us into the economic mess we are currently in in this nation. I hope to pick up the Wall Street Journal someday soon and read that GE Money Bank has folded its tent and gone under, having succumbed to avarice and incompetence.

I don’t recommend anyone using GE Money Bank especially the GE Money Line of Credit account. I received what appeared to be a great offer from GE Money LOC with a low 5% to help consolidate the three credit cards (16.9%, 11.7%, 12%). When I was approved it was for 15.99%, when I called and questioned them about it they said it was based on my credit score. I was at the 750 range above average. I had already closed the credit cards and decided to keep the GE Money Line of Credit hoping the large payment of $255.00 a month would pay in off sooner. The finance charges are approx $106 a month. It’s unbelievable! Twice a year, I get a letter stating I paid late and will increase my interest rate 5%. I have to call and write letters disputing the accusations every time. They have no respect for their customers they are liars and will do anything to get more money out of their customers. They keep sending those notice for rate increases hoping you won’t read it and your finance charges will continue to skyrocket create a larger debt hole impossible to get out on top. Do NOT do business with them!

GE Money Bank Credit Card has sent my name and social security number to a collection agency for a card I am told is through Banana Republic and yet I have never been sent any credit card nor any bill. In calling the Banana Republic Customer Service Line and the individual I spoke with said Banana Republic doesn’t actually handle the banking side of business but that GE Money Bank Credit Card does.

I did consult an attorney who said that I should have received a copy of original bill complete with a signature. I have requested this three times and each time I am told that this would be sent. Instead I get a new collection agency who claims to have bought “my debt” from the prior collection agency and they then try to renegotiate a settlement higher than what the alleged original bill was.

Thank you GE Money Bank Credit Card Services for screwing up my life. I have had impeccable credit but you have changed this.

When you are ready to do what is correct, please send me a bill. Naturally I don’t need the credit card because Banana Republic lost a customer. After reading countless complaints about customers having the same experience, I trust it is just a matter of time before this all catches up to you.

What is equally amazing is that Customer Service through Banana Republic has apologized up and down saying that a clerk was careless in documenting my address. The Customer Service Representative actually suggested I contact Experian Credit Bureau and say that my identity might have been compromised.

What kind of twisted game is this?

GE Money Bank Violates the Fair Credit Billing Act and the Fair Credit Reporting Act.

YOU MUST file formal complaints with the Federal Trade Commission and the Office of Thrift Supervision to get the problems they create resolved

They will change the address you provided in your account so you do not receive statements - they are required to mail it to your correct mailing address. They had my PO Box but removed it from JC Penney Credit Card account

At the same time it was removed $100.00 in bogus charges were posted to my account. The first I even knew about these bogus charges was when the collection agency called. NOT ONE CALL FROM THEIR OWN COLLECTIONS DEPT!

My account was sold as Junk Debt and no one will provide any debt validation to prove I authorized the charges.

    THEY

GE Moneybank is a joke. They are in the Phillipines. There is not office in the US, only a po box in Orlando Florida. There is no US phone number. All phone calls to GE Moneybank are routed to the Phillipines. I have been attempting to pay off my account before Monday, Nov. 3rd. i have sent two checks and my check has yet to be posted to my account. I am going to take out a full page ad in all our area newspapers telling exactly what kind of company they are. I am also going to contact the U S Attorney general on Monday. I will spend every penny I can put together to expose GE Moneybank for the
theives they are. i will never pay them interest on this account because I do not own any interest. my payment has been sent, they simply will not post it. I write for a nespaper and I can do them a great deal of damage. Credit cards issued by J C penny, Belk, Wal-mart, Discover and others are owned by GE moneybank. BEware!

  • 21. Amy    November 7th, 2008 at 11:52 pm

I had a Banana Republic card with GE moneybank for over a year. Never missed a payment, always paid off my card every month. My credit limit with them was $400. One day, while my balance is $0 on the card, leaving me $400 to play with, I go online and go to buy some clothes. GE moneybank reduced my card limit to $10.00 without telling me. When I called and asked them about it, they tell me that they had done that for all of their card users until further notice and that I would get a letter in the mail like everyone else explaining why… something sounds fishy, so I canceled the card. The guy on the phone told me that GE MoneyBank is having financial issues. NEW USERS BEWARE> STAY AWAY FROM THEM!

  • 22. sal    November 11th, 2008 at 8:49 pm

I just filled a complaint with the BBB about paypal Credit services , which is teamed up with GE Money. Let me explain what I am noticing is happening. I carry a balance and make my payments early when they come due every 27th of each month. This month I made a minimum payment which I usually pay more but this month was tight. So after they get the $70 I get an available balance of $32. Paypal took the rest which I presumed was for finance charges right? WRONG! At least I thought so…..

Then I just logged into my account and they took on the 7th of this month $55 for finance charges???? What came out of my payment and payments? I just caught that paypal is NOT only taking a portion of the monthly payment but is also charging the card for finance charges not only a week after they get my payment too! How can this be legal?
So on the 27th the payment is made, they take a cut, then the billing cycle ends on the 7th and they charge the actual card for “purchases” for a finance charge?
I called the number on the card and got a rep telling me that there is a minimum payment fee? I hit the roof. I said there is NO such thing and a minimum payment is a requirement and the only fee should be for the finance charge. Then I said why are you then charging my account a week later for another finance charge? He babbled and babbled but made NOT one lick of sense! I then asked to speak to his manager….. He gets on which is a snot nose young kid. He treated me like I was a complete moron! I told him NO other credit cards I have or have had ever charged the card for anything on it’s own unless you were enrolled in a program and they had your permission. He laughed. I said I think I am going to contact my attorney as something seems fishy and what they are doing seems wrong. He laughed again and said you should because you have no clue as to what you are talking about and they should explain it to me. From there I caught him off guard. I said the rep I was just speaking with said there is a minimum payment fee which comes out of the monthly payment and he was silent. He back peddled and denied he said such a thing. Then he proceeded to say the November 7th charge was for purchases I made! I said wait a minute you just said they were finance charges and he changed his story again. There has to be a huge scam here and legal action should be taken ASAP as there are allot of people that use this credit card and the dummy that I am is only catching this now after 4 months of having it. All my other credit cards treat me right and I have NO problem paying finance charges but when they charge me twice a month and to the card too, something has to be done to stop them.

I filed a claim with the BBB but we will see. Anyone else ever use these credit services paypal offers. Please post if you had any resolution or recourse against them.

    Hello,
I have had issues as well. I’m trying to resolve them. After researching, I found out the GE Money Bank headquarters address and phone number (see below). This is were their legal department is too, if you are trying to file some sort of suit. I called to make sure that the number and address are valid. I spoke with a nice receptionist who verified the address and told me that the legal department, etc are located there. Hope this helps. And wish me luck.

Well it turns out I called again today and spoke to someone who had a clue. After speaking with him and explaining what they are doing he said the following!!!!!

If you carry a balance you are charged finance charges! Another words if you don’t pay off your balance month to month you will be charged finance charges on top of the finance charges they take from your payment. So they are charging you TWICE!!!! I said to the guy ” I never gave you any permission to take anything off my card in the line of a charge” He couldn’t explain why they do that.

Such a shame but I will NOT be doing business with them again EVER.

  • 25. sal    November 12th, 2008 at 4:49 pm

Oh and Jen good luck what type of issues are you having? Same as I stated?

  • 27. Kristyn    November 24th, 2008 at 7:03 pm

My problem with GE Money is very different from the other posts. I have a virtual number in another state so a relative of mine can call me without long distance. I have had this number for years, it is unlisted and my relative is the only one that knows the number. Despite that I am receiving harassing phone calls from GE Money on that number for someone that I have never heard of. I have never (nor will I ever now) had an account with GE Money and have absolutely no reason for them to call me. I have talked to many employees including supervisors that personally assure me that the number will be removed and that I will receive no more phone calls. This has been going on for about two months and I am sick of it. I tried asking for someone above a supervisor and I was put on eternal hold. I have filed a complain with the FTC. Thanks to the person that posted the corporate address, I will be sending them a written complaint. This company is horrible, don’t ever do business with them!

  • 28. Amy Lynch    November 25th, 2008 at 6:01 pm

I agree, do not ever do business with GEMB (which might be hard, since so many stores use them for their financing, but TRUST… don’t do it, you’ll likely be sorry — it’s not worth the risk of ruining your credit). If you MUST use them, be extremely careful!!! And thanks to those who posted their HQ address and the suggestion to file complaints w/FTC and OTS — I’ll be using both to try to resolve my own issue w/them. Good luck to everyone else.

  • 29. jason    November 28th, 2008 at 11:05 pm

i have used them for years with no problems until this year two of the three cards I have paid off with a the full amount of credit aviable on the cards I tried to use one of them and it was denied I called the number on the card and they told me since i havent used them they cancled me with out telling me I will never use them again and I will be paying off the other cards as soon as i can has any body else had this kind of problems?

  • 30. Mark P    December 8th, 2008 at 11:05 am

GE Money Bank is so unfair. We have line of credit of 5500. Two years - NEVER late - lowered line to $50 of balance in November $3000. I missed nov 30 payment, charged 49 late fee + finance charge for DEC, now overlimit and today recieved call from collection agency. 10 days past due!!! I will never, ever us any line with GE again, nor any store that uses their service.

  • 31. Krystal    December 8th, 2008 at 4:22 pm

Avoid doing business with this company. They are a terrible company to deal with.

We have had a J.C. Penney card through GE Moneybank for about 3 years. We’ve never had a problem with it until last month. We got a letter saying that they are afraid we will not be able to make our payments in the future, so they’ve reduced our credit limit to the amount owed on the account or $100. We’ve never missed a payment but I was a day late two different times because I didn’t know the payment must be submitted by 4:30 on the day it’s due.

I was angry, and decided that I would no longer shop at J.C. Penney. I was planning to just pay off the card and be done with them.

I got my new bill and it contains a $35.00 late charge. Since my bill has always been due on the 26th and I paid it on the 22nd, I didn’t understand this. When I went back and looked over last month’s bill, I found that the due date had been moved up a week. It was due on the 20th. On my latest bill, the due date is the 21st. Apparently the due date will change every month.

BEWARE OF THE FLOATING DUE DATE! They will use it to pile late fees onto your account!

I received a letter from GE MONEY stating that they sent me a card and what i need to do to activate the card. I never applied for a card with this company, i already spoke with this company and they told me that they have placed a frezze on the account and the information has been sent to their fraud dept. After reading all these comments i do not think that they will handle this very well. Aside from filing a police report what else should i do????? any information will be appreciated. I have never been a victim of identity theft before. thank you.

  • 33. Nelson    December 10th, 2008 at 2:06 pm

    Dear Jen, comment #32:

That phone number reaches General Electric Corporate HQ, not GEMB bank. I got a very courteous phone operator who gave me a number to call, but it turned out to be a mortgage company that “no longer has that relationship” with GEMB credit services. Their contact person hung up on me.

I’m trying another route to resolve my complaint now. It’s too early in the process to put a beef here on the Internet. But I’ll be back if things go wrong.

I also have had a problem with wrong information being reported to the credit bureaus by GE Money Bank. I never opened an account with them nor did I close it. But they oepned it and closed it and reported that plus an incorrect address all on my credit report now. No luck after about 20 phone calls and rude, ignorant customer service. I am going to the top now. I just found this information. http://www.gemoney.com/en/personal/about_us/leadership_team.html
I will contact Mark Begor (CEO) no matter how many times I have to call or where. I hope everyone stays on him to resolve these problems. I know I will. Try him at the address and phone above first . His is ultimately responsible for his ignorant rude employees and should be held accountable.

When enough people get screwed by this poor excuse for a business segment of GE, then the outrage will mushroom into some sustained action and reform. Everyone who is touched by the reprehensible practices of GE Money Bank should “Google” for related items about GE Money Bank, abusive credit card practices, the recent Federal Reserve proposed credit card reforms and begin a concerted action to determine how to bring down this company and put them out of
business once and for all, period. Nothing less will tell
corporate America that individual consumers have had
enough of this contemptible and arrogant behavior and
the related credit practices which are thrust upon individual consumers with this impertinent sense of
impunity. Let’s go get them now!

GE Money Bank totally sucks. The are a bunch of thieves

secret terrerist group just trying to torment innoncent
American People, I was slapped with a $30 dollar late
charge before I even got my first statement, and they said
they had no control over the postal service, I had not even
recieved a statment of where and how much to send, but
from the time of purchase to the time of the first statement
was over 30days. A bunch of lousy rotten crooks.

GE MONEY BANK with DILLARDS department store reduced my credit line which put me over my limit without notification. I always paid on time and maybe they wanted to fraudulently get more money out of me . I know it is the federal credit card law that they have to notify you, they never did. They say they did. If they did then why did I only get a statement and nothing else. They just did what ever they wanted to illegally . I have had the card for years . We the people and consumers need to get rid of all these loser companies, if you stink and rip off people then you deserve to go under. Stop getting the cards and shopping at the businesses that carry them.

  • 45. Anyanwu    January 22nd, 2009 at 12:10 pm

This is an absolutely HORRIBLE company. I have always been on time with payments to this credit card and the one time that I did not (due to their website problems) I received a call from an irate representative who seemed to have a definite language barrier. He tried to have a screaming match with me because he simply did not hear me answer a question he posed to me.

I think that the representatives need some serious anger management courses.

    BEWARE…..DONT DO IT!

  • 46. Robert Costes    January 23rd, 2009 at 11:37 pm

I have a America’s Tire account of which I did not receive a statement for this month. I am trying to pay the account before the due date on line as per GE’s recorded messages. The web site is so confussing that I can not find a place to pay. The person at customer service speak’s such broken english and so ill informed that she can’t help me and refers me to another number.
the upshot is that GE Money deserves to go broke and not receive any taxpayer money if they “come a calling”. Let them sink and make room for a company who know’s how to run a business.

  • 47. JUDY    January 25th, 2009 at 12:16 am

I TOO HAVE HAD PROBLEMS WITH THIS BANK, I THINK THEY ARE CROOKS. I PAID FOR THE MERCHANDISE THAT I PURCHASED FROM A COMPANY, NOT KNOWING THAT GEMB WAS THEIR CASH PROVIDER. I PAID THE BILL OFF BEFORE IT WAS DUE AND WHEN THE BANK GOT INVOLVED THEY ARE TRYING TO MAKE ME PAY AGAIN BECAUSE THEY SAID THAT THE COMPANY DIDN’T CHARGE THE MERCHANDISE TO THEIR ACCOUNT. SO THEREFORE I OWE THEM THE SAME AMOUNT OF MONEY THAT I PAID THE COMPANY. I HAVE WROTE TO SEVERAL AGENCIES TO SEE IF THEY COULD HELP ME OR TELL ME WHAT TO DO TO NO AVAIL. NOW I AM RECEIVING HARASSING PHONES FROM ANOTHER BANK TELLING ME THAT I OWE THEM MONEY ON THE BEHALF OF GEMB. I THINK THEY SOLD MY ACCOUNT TO THIS COLLECTION AGENCY TO TRY TO GET THEIR MONEY, BUT I AM DETERMINED TO FIGHT THEM ALL THE WAY.

  • 48. Stephen    January 26th, 2009 at 10:18 am

Has anyone had their issues resolved with GEMB? Aside from the person who called Bill Cary? Also who is Bill Cary?

  • 49. sal    February 3rd, 2009 at 10:14 pm

GE money settled my case against them via The Better Business Burea. I clearly shown proof that they are scam artists and rip people off. I also shown that they are charging unfairly your payments that are due.

I was using an online payment system and even if I chose to have the payment to pay 5 days before the due date, it would always clear the day after mysteriously!!! Then they would hit me with late fees, take the fees off the card available credit and I was screwed!

I kept showing the BBB proof from online copy and pastes from various websites where people complained about the company.

Sure enough I demanded all charges to be refunded to me or I would peruse legal action and sure enough they closed my account ( I paid it in full) Then sent me a check for all the charges I proved were hit against me unfairly.

FILE A COMPLAINT with the BBB and do your research. I pray this company goes belly up and is screwed totally with the situation we are in right now. I would NEVER wish that on any company but this one must be taken down!!!!!

    Good luck all.
To me some of their customer support staff are all TOTAL MORONS!!!! They have no clue what they are talking about nor speak English very well either!

I have been a GE money credit card customer for 4 years never been late or never max out my credit line. Iam an investor’ invest in homes” i recently went into a hardship of a foreclose property i own. GE Money started off by decrease my credit line about half and 30 days later they decide to canceled my account. They refuse to talk to me about this’ i just got a letter stated that i was late with another creditor. I’ll Never Get Credit With GE Money Bank again! they dont stand with you even if you are in good standard with the bank

  • 51. Deb    February 13th, 2009 at 12:10 pm

I also have been treated unfairly by GE Money Bank, I have a GE Money bank issued credit card only by default, they purchased this account in 2005. I have never had a problem, no late payments etc. Now all of a sudden on feb 5 with prior notice they reduced my credit line to less than the balance on the account at the time, mind you the balance was paid off the month prior. I was making a purchase at a local company in a small town and was told the card was not accepted (how embarassing), I went on lline and found out they had reduced my credit line, I then called and was told the same thing and that I would be receiving a letter in the mail. I received the letter and the reasons for them doing so is totall incorrect. I immediately wen on line and paid the balance off, today I called to close the account and with reason for my request to reflect on my credit report and was then told the account was closed when I asked by who they stated that GE closed, I immediately demanded to speak to someone about that was put on hold for 10 minutes, then hung up on I called back and was told that the account was closed and they couldn’t close it again (gee who is the idiot), I told them I wanted the reason to be at my request, they said that someone else would tell me the same thing, I still demanded to speak to a supervisor and was put on hold and then again hung up on. I’m sure you all realize that by these people doing things like this is effecting your credit bureau report, FICO score as well as your credit worthiness in others eye without knowing the whole truth. I say we all contact our politicians, starting with local, state and all the way up to the president. These banks are getting our money and this is what they are doing to us we are all going to end up paying in taxes. We all need to do something besides complain. Time to act. I can assure that it is not only us that has been treated this way. I was confident that when this happened to me I was absolutely sure it wasn’t only me and I was correct.

  • 52. Deb    February 13th, 2009 at 12:18 pm

I need to correct something, I stated that with prior notice they reduced my credit line, but it was without. prior notice. I am just so upset with the people, I was in a big hurry do express my dissatisfaction

  • 54. jc    February 17th, 2009 at 10:58 pm

i opened a credit card with GEMB for Lenscrafters last February (08) because they had a deal that if you opened an account and bought two pairs of glasses you wouldn’t have to make any payments for 6 months. i paid my balance off IN FULL in June (08), two months before i even needed to begin making payments. i recently went to the store to replace a broken pair and i was told that GEMB closed my account. everytime i try to call them their automated system asks me for my account number and them promptly hangs up on me once i enter it because it’s been closed. i never received any letters about why it was closed and even the people who work at lenscrafters don’t understand why it was closed.

GE Money Bank must be stopped. I would be glad to take part in a class action lawsuit against them.. I’ve been through a lot of crap with them… They tell you one thing then do another.. I paid my balance in full then they sent me a statement with an additional amount of finance charges. I made a written complaint and they removed the charges but then on my next statement their was another finance charge… I was supposed to have a Zero balance….. Let’s Sue them..

I have been trying to pay a Mervyns bill for a couple of weeks, my bill instructed to pay on line go to ge moneycards.com/Mervyns, I have spent hours trying to find the site that shows where to pay a bill. I finally called customer service for Mervyns, they gave me the same information, I told them I couldn’t find the website for Mervyns pay bill, after hours of searching for it. Is it Ge money cards or Mervyns?

  • 57. Julie    February 28th, 2009 at 3:04 am

I have a Paypal Plus Mastercard through GE. For about a year things were fine. on 12/08 I decided to pay off the balance and just keep the card for emergencies. I really didn’t need it, but never had problems and had never spoken to customer service. I’ve always paid on time online with no problems until now. Suddenly, my online payments were processed and then returned. One of them being only for 15.00. They suggest that “I” am putting in my account numbers incorrectly, but these are the same two banks i’ve had stored online and have been using for payments. It’s ludicris..I pay, they say unable to locate account and wham charge me 35.00. My bank says that they have NEVER returned any electronic payment or check. Unable to locate or invalid account is not a returned check! So now I tried to pay off the entire thing to close it and once again my payment was processed and returned and I was charged 35.00 again. Not too mention the 39.00 late fee from the first returned payment. Customer Service is a JOKE. I swear it’s in some little office with three people in it. Two men and one woman. Nothing against their ethninticity, but I truly have a difficult time understanding thier accents. AND they aren’t helpful at all. I don’t know whats going on, but I feel scammed. If I can EVER get them to actually keep a payment..I’ll pay it off and my relationship with them will be over. Not too mention how they routinely decline my card for no reason. I call and they say “oh, we’re just making sure it’s not fraudulent. WTF is that? 3 times in two weeks I’ve been embarrassed in front of lines of people because it was declined. I have other ways to pay, but thats not the point! I feel like they have flagged my card to harass me for whatever reason. NEVER again..and if you haven’t ..DON’T.
    They’re A$$ holes!

  • 58. KS    February 28th, 2009 at 11:09 pm

I’ve got two store cards with GE Money — Sams and Dillards. I’ve had Dillards for more than 20 years and Sams for about four or five.

I’ve never missed a payment. Never carried a large balance. I generally pay off what I owe each month. Not in 20 years of having this card did I miss a single payment.

Was notified by mail this week that my credit limit was being “trimmed” from $10,000 to $100. No explanation was given.

Two days later I went to use my Sam’s Card. I had a $2000 limit and tried to purchase $185 of groceries. Denied. Without notifiying me, GEMB “trimmed” this card to $100.

I’ve checked my credit reports. No problems there. In fact, I recently bought a new home. Never been turned down for ANYTHING credit-wise.

This is infuriating. What recourse do we have?

  • 59. Linda Sauceda    March 1st, 2009 at 5:07 am

I got a GE Money Bank card through my Dentist Office. My husband needed extensive Dental work and we didn’t have the cash to cover such an expense. We were told that we would have an eighteen month interest free loan, so I worked hard at sending in extra payments (always sending more than the minumum amount each month and then this month we were slam dunked by an outrageous Financial charge of over $400.00 on our balance of less than $1,000. I was shocked and I am trying to get someone in management to talk to me about this scam, no luck yet!

I too think we need to unite all over the states and put these people on notice! We will not take this type of shake down from GE Money Bank and they should be held in contempt by the Federal Government.

Thank you everyone who wrote and please keep writing to let others like us who has been scammed by GE that they are not alone!

  • 60. LAC    March 2nd, 2009 at 10:10 pm

We also had our limit lowered on our Lowes card. Been remodeling for past year and always charged our supplies during the month and paid the balance in full when we got our statement. Is there anything we can do to get the government to look into what they are doing. This will impact everyone’s credit score. It’s a shame that they can do this to paying customers. Are we being targeted because we actually pay off our cards each month? Is this their way of compensating for those that can’t pay their bill? What do we need to do to get this out in the open.

  • 61. Lizzie    March 8th, 2009 at 3:23 pm

GE bank credit cards are horrible i have lowe’s card credit line of $2100.00 bal $0.00 and trim down to $500.00 also Wal Mart $2000.00 trim down to $1400.00 never over the limit never late this is not fair.

  • 62. Robert    March 9th, 2009 at 10:52 am

This is crazy! I just paid off my Paypal Master Card issued by GEMB (almost $1,900). I bought some plane tickets on the card and go to pay it off and they reduced the limit to $500. I called customer service (a joke mind you) and the guy told me that the credit bureaus told them to reduce my limit. Since when did the credit bureaus tell anyone anything other than a credit history? Well I am paying off this card and cancelling it. Screw them!

  • 63. Sue    March 10th, 2009 at 12:27 am

I just had an incident also where they told me that they don’t “do” payments on the weekends. Paid my bill online on Feb 27th (it was due the 28th), but it did not post until Mar 1. However, February 28 and Mar 1 are both weekend days - the rep removed the late fee, but lectured me about paying my bills. However, I pointed out that my bill was due on the 28th, was paid on the 27th and I had a receipt from GE showing it was paid on the 27th. Also previous bills have been paid on weekends and there have not been problems. I don’t need any lectures from snotty customer service people especially after it took me 1 and 1/2 hours to get ahold of someone and only after I called the store where I bought the appliances and they gave me their retail number to call. I do believe that after reading all of these compaints that GE is scamming the system and is posting payments late intentionally. If you use a bill pay system through your bank, they should be able to track the payments for you and provide documentation of prompt payment. Some of the bill payment providers will even call GE Bank and “discuss” the situation with them as they know exactly when the tape with the information was sent over to GE Bank. For those of you receiving calls from collection agencies, look online for rules that must be followed by these agencies. Here is one possible website from the Federal Trade Commission http://www.ftc.gov/bcp/edu/pubs/consumer/credit/cre18.shtm Ask the collection agency for their address and then send them a letter asking that you do not wish to be contacted via phone - they must honor that. Also in that letter ask for all of the information pertaining to the bill that they are trying to collect. They must also provide that. Even if you do owe money, they are not allowed to badger you. I also think everyone here should send letters to GE Bank and to the regulatory agency and to President Obama about the unfair practices that GE Bank is exhibiting. Be persistent, try going back to the store where you purchased your products as their credit group may be able to cut through some of the red tape (it helped me when I didn’t get my first bill). Call the corporate offices - get ahold of a VP, they usually have a staff that handles problems. (If you look at their statements/filings that they must list with the SEC, the corporate office numbers are usually listed on these statements (10-K report). GE Money is part of General Electric (phone number on latest 10-K report is 203-373-2211). Perhaps if they get enough calls, they might get their act together - also when the corporate types get calls, it is amazing how quickly things can and do get resolved. BTW, I am another customer with great credit scores (over 800), pay all my bills on time, and do not want GE to do anything negative to my credit score. I will be writing my letter to GE tomorrow with copies to the federal agency, the White House, and the store where I bought our appliances. I also, for the first time, called a customer service person an IDIOT because of something he said. I have never done that before and I doubt I will ever do that again - these people are unbelievable. Sorry the post is long, but I hope there is some helpful information for those who are having problems. Good luck. P.S. For those who have seen problems with your credit reports, dispute it with the credit bureaus (showing proof of payment) as it puts the onus back onto GE Bank to prove that bills were not paid on time.

  • 64. Tom    March 17th, 2009 at 12:46 pm

I’m with all of you on this one… This company is impossibly bad. I had a late payment (first time ever) on a BR credit card. My credit score plummeted and I was told to dispute it with a personal letter. I sent it to the PO Box in El Paso, TX a month ago. There’s no customer service line to call?? To check on the status of this?? I’m trying to buy a house and I want to know if anything can be done to rehab this one-time mistake.

If anyone has phone number that’ll work, please.

    Thanks all and good luck.

  • 65. Susan Posey    March 18th, 2009 at 7:36 pm

GE Money Bank is the most frustrating company in the world. I diputed a charge. The balance. I have filled out the paper work 4 times and sent it in. Each week I get a collection call which states I am past due. I ask if it is in dispute they tell me yes. (this is after 2 1/2 months) The letter states account will not be collected upon. OK, but I still get calls and the folks being rude say’ a yeah it is in dispute. I ask why they keep calling. I finally talked to a lady last week, she told me once credit is applied, CBR would be correct, fees reversed, etc….I talked to a supervisor who said, no can’t reverse. I asked to speak to his boss, he don’t take calls. I asked who is in charge of customer services…I got Jim Morrison and he told me to call 800 number. After speaking to these folks since October of last year..I got we can talk to you unless your husband gives us permission. I snapped. I cant believe it and I said, I guess you all have broken the law the last 15 times we have spoken. Can someone tell me how to get a hold of CEO Mark Begor. I am about ready to do a search on the internet and pay for the person information and call him at home.

  • 66. Ken bodin    March 19th, 2009 at 8:13 pm

Here we go again, since the Government gave the credit card companies 18 months to steal more money from
the folks you can barely afford to live from week to week !
I have been a customer of WAL-MART / SAMS CLUB , G E MONEY BANK HOLD THOSE ACCOUNTS!
I have never missed a payment, never abused my credit line, which is a line of 3,500 ( or should i say used to )
Have been a customer for 7 years with WALMART & also LENSCRAFTERS which i purchase my families
eye glasses……..I received a letter today informing me of a credit reduction from 3,500 to 350.00 for WALMART
NO LESS… they told me they had a new stratagy……basically saying they are making more money with the folks
that are paying late, behind ( making money on their fees ) No wonder WAL-MART is making a profit………
Im tired of this, if you are paste this story and send it to your congressman, CNN, FOX-NEW, SUSIE ORMAN.
Its seems if there is enough outrage, they will put together a bill making this law take effect NOW not in 18 months.

  • 67. Shannon    March 20th, 2009 at 1:25 pm

Haven’t had any major problem, except that they have the worst customer service rep’s in the world. Can’t even call and ask for you balance without getting attitude from these people.

WORD OF CAUTION TO ALL THE FRUSTRATED CARD HOLDERS - THAT WERE ISSUED BY THIS CRAPPY FINANCIAL COMPANY…..IM AS MAD AS EVERYONE, JUST PAY OFF THE CARDS - AND BURY THEM IN THE BACKYARD - IF YOU CANCEL CARD NOW IT LOWERS YOUR FICO SCORE - ON A CARD ISSUE NOTE, I ORDERED A BUNCH OF STUFF FOR MY WIFE ON QVC & THEY OFFERED ME THEIR Q - CARD……….WHAT A SURPRISE….ISSUED BY G E MONEY…………I CANCELLED MY ORDER…THEY ASK WHY…AND I TOLD THEM ……THEY ACTUALLY….CONNECTED ME TO THEIR CORPORATE OFFICE (QVC) AND I TOLD THEM MY STORY….WHEN IT STARTS ACCETING THE RETAILERS…THEY LISTEN ( I HOPE )

  • 69. Louie Rivera    March 22nd, 2009 at 11:29 am

Just a piece of advice. Before you all start complaining, before applying for any credit card…make sure you know how to use it first. Know what the FINANCE CHARGE is, review what the LATE FEE is and stuff like that. It won’t matter where the freakin’ call center is located, wether it’s sitting here in the US, Philippines, India, or Antartica…tell you guys…CREDIT CARD system is pretty established…all you have to do is to KNOW HOW TO USE! WHEN TO USE IT! So again, before you complain about the charges, know the banking terms first. LATE FEE is going to charged if you DON’T PAY YOUR ACCT ON TIME!!! (that’s why there is this thing we call PAYMENT DUE DATE); FINANCE CHARGE is there if you don’t pay your account in FULL after your payment due date…IT IS A STANDARD HERE ON EARTH.

I don’t work for this GE Bank or whatever…but I guess what I’m saying is…don’t point your finger to something else if you’ve got no one to blame but yourself. If you applied for a card, you know that you will have balance on it esp if YOU HAVE BEEN USING IT…be concious enough that you owe something somewhere from someone…BE RESPONSIBLE. Bills can get lost in the mail, it’s a fact. And lastly, DO NOT APPLY FOR A LOAN, CREDIT CARD OR WHATEVER LINE OF CREDIT IF YOU CAN’T PAY IT.

  • 70. Rachel Zimmermann    March 26th, 2009 at 8:12 pm

Just a quick response to #78, Louie Rivera aka pompous ass GEmoney rep. Where personal responsibility is concerned, even the most diligent consumer STILL relies on the banks disclosure. Hard to change what you’re unaware of. Any sane person tends to expect prompt payment and low balances to be, at the very least, key in maintaining a line of credit. Instead, prompt payment is rewarded by reduced lines of credit and nasty customer service rep lecture. The lesson is PAY CASH. If you can’t afford it now, you don’t need it. Let’s learn to be self reliant and watch these banks fall apart. Corporate arrogance and greed got us in this situation, let’s let them die under their own weight like weeping willows and use them for firewood when all is said and done. Peace out. : )

  • 71. Will Sue    April 4th, 2009 at 1:00 pm

    1. GE charged me a late fee for my first payment, and they had never even sent a bill yet.

    2. GE changed my due date with NO notice — moved it up 5 days in the cycle to a SATURDAY — and then charged another late fee.

    78. There’s irresponisibility, and then there are predatory lending practices. Learn the difference.

I hope GE is ready for a fight this time.

Well everyone beware…I authorized one payment to come out of my bank account and they took 4. I lost my job in January and that put my bank account in the negative. Well after getting a hold of Care credit they admitted that they didnt have the authorization to take those payments out so they said they will put the money bank in my account. Well guess what they never did. My bank account is 543.47 in the negative and the bank put me on a credit abuser. Well i faxed all the paper work to care credit and left messages which they still havent called back. Then the bank froze my account..,.,Which is such bull crap. I am so pissed…I am suing GEmoney for all the money back plus we just got a letter today that they closed our other account with them. We called and they said it was Equifax that closed the account out. I am so pissed if anyone knows whatelse I can do please comment. Now I understand why some people go postal.

To everyone that is having trouble with this Bank, please write to the Office of Thrift Supervision, Consumer Response Unit 1, 1700 G Street NW, Washington, DC 20552.
If enough people write to Washington, something might be done-and to think I was upset because they closed my account. It might be a blessing in disguise!

Let me respond to #78. First off I NEVER applied to GE Money bank for a credit card. THEY BOUGHT out companies I delt with!! Because of them, in the past 3 months my FICO has dropped 83 POINTS!!! I have NEVER been late, even pay at least double, sooooooooo it not being a “Flake and not knowing how to use my CREDIT”. I was up to 5K credit on one card, used only 1300, GEMoney Bank decided to lower it to 1353, Making my debt to income ratio extremely HIGH. I just bought a house and remolding, guess that leaky roof has to wait….am writing to everyone I can…Kiss my GRITS #78!!

  • 75. j j    April 7th, 2009 at 10:43 pm

GE Money owns all the credit cards JC Penny, Discount tire, Lowes, They have lowered all of my accounts and closed one of them. This will bomb your credit rating because when they lower your limit it looks like you have maxed them which is bad. None of my cards were maxed and I made my payments now my score is down the toiet. When things get better. Don’t support the companies that allowed GE MOney to do it Shop Home Depot Nordstoms any place that doesnt use GE Money. If they don’t go under, I thing when we st op using them they will!

  • 76. jeff granger    April 8th, 2009 at 11:52 pm

I had a really bad credit rating from past disasters that I just finally got all cleaned up and have been working hard to prime my bank accounts and credit accounts to purchase a house. Credit limits on other cards havent been high because of previous derogatories that have recently fallen off so available credit was minimal at best. but I still kept well within limits and paid off every month. Had a 720 credit score last month. GE credit for some reason reduced my available credit from $2000 to $100. now my credit score has been smashed to 660. And it appears as if I’ve been grossly overcharging.
So much for buying a house F** B**’s

I advise anyone to NOT DO BUSINESS with GE MONEY BANK (also associated with CARE CREDIT). I had medical problems and signed up to help pay towards the medical bills. I almost had the bill paid off and I didn’t pay it in time for them to dump on a $400 finance charge. I called Customer Service (if you can call it that) absolutely no help, so then was transfered to an ‘Escalating Specialist’ who was very rude and absolutely NO help at all. There is No one to speak to with this company who will even work with you.

I have paid what was due, yet they still continue to charge me late fees, and harrassing phone calls. I don’t want to ever have anything to do with them Ever again!!

Unfortunately if you are reading this, you have probaly been screwed by them too. I wish I would have known how horrible of a company they are. They are scammers! Taking advantage of people in need. These are hard times and we don’t need this kind of treatment.

  • 78. Jack B. Bailey    April 12th, 2009 at 10:21 pm

For all those who have posted regarding issues with GE Money Bank and Care Credit, I am in the process of searching out an attorney who will consider taking on a Class Action Lawsuit against them. I need others who are willing to participate, which would include providing documentation to support your claims against them. There are currently at least two current class actions against General Electric and GE Money as they were partnered with Holland America and another company. Looks like they’re in trouble all over.

If you are interested, please email me at jackb.bailey@gmail.com. I will notify you of any progress.

I have a GE credit card thru American Eagle. In Nov of 2008 I became late on my payment and haven’t been able to catch up because of the high interest and late fees. I get phone calls several times a day from them and I don’t answer. I continue to make $100. payments every month but can’t catch up. They continue to call and on Saturday the 11th of April they called a total of 24 times. They have started spoofing numbers to trick my caller ID so that I will answer but I don’t. They leave an automated message with English accent. My wireless company said the only thing they can do is change my number in order to stop the harassment. If I ever get them paid off I will never deal with GE again!!!

I have always paid my Paypal Buyer Credit account with GE Money Bank online and faithfully on time for years. Suddenly, 2 months ago, they sent me an email stating that my payment was rejected by my bank due to insufficient funds. I contacted my bank and not only were there sufficient funds but there had been no attempt by Paypal credit to deduct my payment as authorized. I contacted Paypal credit and after an hour of the runaround and verification of my bank account number, was instructed to send a copy of my bank statement showing that on the date payment was made, there were sufficient funds. I did so and the returned check fee was credited back to my account. Thinking that the problem was resolved, I again made an online payment. And again they rejected my payment and charged a returned payment fee and added a late payment fee. So once again, I sent copies of my bank account statement showing that there were (and still are) sufficient funds to cover the payment. So far, this had not been resolved. Yesterday, I received a letter notifying me that my account was being closed due to the high number of returned checks. I did not send any checks and the so-called returned payments are due to errors on their part, not mine.

Hey everyone, I’m with Mr. Bailey on this one. We have to do two very important things here. The first is to JOIN TOGETHER. We can post until our fingers hurt from typing but nothing will be done until this thing hits a courtroom. We need the hundreds and probably thousands of us that have been victimized by this group of criminals to join up and get with a group of lawyers that are ready for war. The second thing is to start getting documentation together. When the time comes, we will all have to prove that something illegal was done. Phone records, payment records, statements, anything you can think of that can help the case. Let’s do this for real and get something back that they took from us. Contact me or Mr. Bailey as we’ve already spoken on this. We need everyone.

  • 82. Heather    April 22nd, 2009 at 6:14 pm

I agree completely. We have no choice but to get together and demand justice. What they have done is unethical and not proper business practice. I see the only way through this is to get a class action suit with all of us. I have a file full of denied disputes that Care Credit refused to take my side on when my insurance company said I was over charged.

  • 83. Shelley    April 28th, 2009 at 11:56 pm

I totally agree with Mr.Bailey. I will be emailing you. I have all my docs and I am behind you 100%. I have contacted troubleshooters too and will be calling him tomorrow. I have filed a complaint with the BBB and they are doing what they can but Care credit is telling lies and I am getting more pissed off. I am tired of being pushed off to someone else all the time. You will be hearing from me Mr.Bailey.

I had an account with Brandsmart. I was two months behind with my payment. I was contacted by the company and I made arrangements to pay the full amount. I sent a check for the balance, however, a few days later, I received an online notice with a past due amount. I called customer service and was told about an expired promotion, I went ahead and paid the balance on line. This was back in January or February. While at work today, I received a call from collections saying that I was 2 months behind and I owed $200.00. I disputed the charges and explained about paying off the account. I was told once again about expired promotions and asked to speak to a supervisor. The response was that I could not be transferred and I would be given a number to call. I hung up the phone because I was so furious and did not get the number. Who do I talk to and how do I get this resolved.

  • 85. Lark    April 29th, 2009 at 12:20 pm

I received a letter today that our Lowe’s card had been closed. We have been Lowe’s customers for years and always paid off our balances well ahead of time. It’s not like we need to use the card all of the time, but I guess if you don’t carry a balance, you’re not valuable to them.

Our credit report will reflect that the account was closed by the guarantor which will impact it negatively, even though we were never deliquent. This is a travesty. It’s difficult enough to maintain a good credit score with the current economic climate, then when companies like this piece of (insert obscenity here) resort to tactics like this, consumers are being punished for GOOD payment practices. Of course, we’re at their mercy and there’s absolutely nothing we can do about it.

Word of advice to all consumers…do not do business with stores using GE Money Bank as their guarantor for credit accounts. You will ultimately wind up regretting it if you do. If you are doing business with them, pay off your accounts and close them before they have a chance to close them for you. Your credit score will take a hit, but not as badly as when they close them.

Is there anyone who would like to join me in a class action law suit against GE Money/Money Bank for the continued attempts to ruin people’s credit, especially in this time of recession. They continue to drop my credit limit, without notice, everytime I make a payment on any of my accounts, and even with my good credit rating.

Have a Chevron/Texaco credit card. Today received a statement saying that I owed 92.54, $25 being a late fee.
The payment had arrived 3 days late. Called Chevron asking if there wasn’t a grace period. Chevron informed me that the grace period had been phased out by GE Moneybank when they took over Chevron/Texaco credit cards in ‘08. This was the first I’ve heard about GE Moneybank. I started looking the company up online to get more information. Never have I seen such unhappy, frustrated customers. Gives a real sense of reality to malevolent credit card practices. Would love to see a class action suit. Hope someone can pull it off.

Never have I ever felt the need to post anything on the internet but I feel sick just reading these post. I am 57 years old and have had every credit card you can imagine. I read each and every comment and I am in awe of the lack of responsibility people have today. GE money Bank does not want any of you. Nothing would make them happier than you cutting your card up and never using it again. I have lost my job in the past AND WOULD HAVE BEEN ASHAMED TO NOT MAKE MY PAYMENT. I have gone from a six figure job to cleaning peoples homes in order to pay ON TIME my debts. I have worked three jobs paying minimum wage in order to fulfill my contract. When you take out a credit card it’s your job to know the rules and regulation. You are responsible to know when you first payment is due and make sure they have recieved it on time and it is posted to your account, but you all think GE money bank owes you a statement and if it gets lost in the mail then its somehow their fault. They cut your limit when you pay late and it triggers a credit check. If they see your debt to income ratio and payment history sucks they have every right to protect themselves from you. GET A JOB AND PAY YOUR BILL AND STOP HURTING THE FINANCIALLY RESPONSIBL:E PEOPLE!!!! No I don’t work for money bank I just happen to be married to one of you whiners for 25 years. You are the ones wreaking our country.

Two years ago I co-signed for a loan at GE Moneybank for my daughter and son-in-law to buy my two grandsons dirt bikes. The total came to over $12,000.
One of the bikes was stolen two weeks later and the insurance didn’t cover the full cost to replace the bike. The dealership didn’t have the same bike in stock so they bought a more expensive one. I also co-signed on that loan. My son-in-law bought the disability insurance, Debt Security, on this 2nd loan, which is quite expensive. He’s been paying on it monthly for 2 years and is currently paying $60 a month. The dealership, for some reason, listed me as the primary cardholder on the second account. About 2 weeks later I received a credit card and the first statement. I gave the bill to my daughter, cut up the card and, called GE to change the mailing address, which they did but, it still came in my name.
My son-in-law had an accident at work and is on Workmans Comp. He filed a claim with Debt Security.
A week later I received a letter from Debt Security saying they wouldn’t pay because I was the primary cardholder and not covered under the policy, although everything was in my son-in-laws name.
I talked to 17 different people in one day after I received this letter, some at GE, some at Debt Security. They kept transfering me back and forth..Debt Security said they couldn’t pay because the account was in my name and GE said it was up to Debt Security to settle the issue, since they were the policy holder. That was four months ago. Both my daughter and I have been trying to fix this proplem with no luck. No one has the power to change this.
Does anybody know where the Corporate office is? Does anybody know of a branch of GE and it’s location? I am retired and willing to drive anywhere I have to in order to talk to someone that doesn’t have their head up their ass. I don’t care if it’s the CEO or a branch manager. I can’t seem to get anyone that can help me. If I can’t get this resolved who do I call. The Better Business Bureau or my Sate Representive or who?
    Please help.

I called to have my paypal buyer credit canceled, and had asked them for a written statement that it had been canceled and that they let the credit bureaus know that it was at my request that it was closed. I just hope they stick to their word and that it doesn’t affect my credit / FICO scores. I am just trying to be responsible and close down the accounts I know I will never use and have never used in the 1 1/2 to 2 years that I have had the account

I’ve been reading and feel a bit redeemed since I’ve had very similar dealings with Care Credit/ GE Money. When I began the “loan” process for dental needs in October 2007, I received no receipt or paperwork (I’m trying to get this from the dentist now). BUT they mailed bills to a wrong address just like others have reported here. The dentist has a proper address, so why would they use a wrong address? I now believe this is a scam that Care Credit must be doing to try and bring in more money. This also lowered my credit rating because it appeared that I wasn’t paying my bills for several months. I learned of this in January and I complained loud and often enough to wipe out the late fees but damage was done. No one ever told me that I had 12 or 18 months interest free, and I have just learned that I am now paying finance charges on the balance. I lost my job last fall and began paying a reduced amount above the minimum via their online automatic payment process. Their customer service is terrible and talking with them only makes me more upset. I will likely be transferring the balance to my Chase credit card, but I am trying to tell others to beware. I plan to close the account before they do more dirty work.

On Saturday, November 15, 2008 I went to Triad Appliance Center, 2566 S. Stratford Rd, Winston Salem, NC to get price quotes on appliances for homes I have under construction. The sales person I spoke suggested I apply for a line of credit, so that when I was ready to furnish the completed homes with appliances all that would be necessary for me to do was to call with the product line of my choice and the appliances would be billed to my GE Money Bank account. In mid November 2008 I requested price quotes on several product lines. On or about December 3, 2008 Triad Appliance Center closed their doors and filed bankruptcy, leaving patrons without merchandise they had paid for. I later discovered that they charged my account for merchandise I had not ordered, but had only received quotes for. I contacted GE Money Bank immediately to inform them and to dispute these charges. I received a letter dated December 11, 2008 acknowledging my account was in dispute. It further stated that I should not make payment on the disputed amount and that this would not be reported as delinquent to the credit reporting agencies, and that no attempt to collect would be initiated. The letter indicated that I would be notified in writing when the matter had been resolved. I have never heard back from GE Money Bank as to the status of this dispute.
In early March 2009 I started receiving calls from a collections agency concerning this account, at which time I told them the amount was in dispute and should not have been reported. I cited the content of the letter I received from GE Money Bank. I immediately called GE Money Bank and asked to speak to a supervisor to ask why I had been reported and was told that the initial dispute letter was not the one I should have received. Another letter was sent to me dated April 10, 2009 acknowledging that I made contact with GE Money Bank to dispute these charges, however, this letter, unlike the original one, requested further information about the transaction. I submitted the requested information along with all pertinent documentation. I have continued to receive collections calls and a letter from GE Money Bank attempting to collect on this debt, all of which is contrary to the promise contained in the earlier letters that said this would not happen while this account is in dispute.
In early May, 2009 I started receiving collections calls from an out sourced collections service attempting to collect on this debt. Out of curiosity, I checked my credit with the three credit reporting agencies and saw that this account had, in fact, been reported to the 3 major reporting agencies, contrary to what I have been promised by GE Money Bank account supervisors and the letters I have received from GE Money Bank. On May 13, 2009 I received a collections call from an out-sourced agency and when I explained that the account was in dispute the person that called told me this dispute had been resolved on May 5, 2009. I told her that I had not been notified of any resolution.
Again I called GE Money Bank and asked to be escalated to a supervisor to try to resolve this issue. The supervisor told me they have received all the documentation I have submitted, and on May 6, 2009 I received 2 letters from GE Money Bank acknowledging this account is in dispute and that no payment is due on the disputed amount, and that this account will not be reported as delinquent and no action to collect on it will occur.
On May 16, 2009 I received a letter from AlliedInterstate, Columbus, Ohio stating that this account has been turned over to them for collection. I have prepared a letter to them, containing all documents I’ve received from GE Money Bank.

I am eager to resolve this issue and I feel like I have been fair and cooperative with all parties concerned in this matter by complying with all requests for information. I will pursue all steps necessary to restore my credit, and will share this story with anyone interested in hearing it.

I bought a $1200 TV at Wal Mart in preparation for Christmas and having family over - this was in November of 2009. At the suggestion of Wal Mart, I opened a credit account, which I now know is from GEMB. My credit limit was $3000. The TV was the only item on the account, and I’ve been paying it off at a rate of $200-300 every month, and now in May of 2009 I got it down to $114 left on the account. I got a letter in the mail a few days ago that my credit limit is now $300. I’ve never been late, my FICO is around 720 on all 3 bureaus and they haven’t run a credit check since they opened the account. The information I’ve been able to find is that they are just shutting down a lot of accounts for no reason other than they really don’t want to be in the consumer credit business right now and have too much exposure to it.

All this is only mildly annoying to me - I’m not really hurt by this and have other credit cards with $20k limits, but I feel a bit abused.

For those of you who may have a legitimate claim against them, drop me a line and I may be able to give you a few pointers…I’ve got years of experience filing suits in state and federal court against credit card companies and other lenders; note I’m not trying to sell you a service but I wouldn’t mind helping you if you’ve got real problems with GEMB…jasonatktrk-tv.com is my email.

I have had exceptionally good luck with GEMoney Bank, I wrote them a letter. Explaining how I wanted my payments applied so that fee and finance charges would not accrue and not only did they do as I asked byt they refunded over a thousand in fees to the account. My whole family is using them as a means of establishing lines of credit to build a good credit history before leaving home.
I think the idea is to head off trouble before it starts. I have had extensive dental work done since 2007,over 15000.00 worth and I made it a point to take the 0% for 18 months option which meant I had several lines of credit through the same provider, I paid 100.00 a week until recently when I saw that a finance charge had accrued despite this action, I just called in and asked for it to be removed. It was and promptly.
A couple of months later it happened again and I was refused. This time I wrote a letter requesting the fees be removed and outlining a plan in which I paid the total monthly amount due the first payment of the month and then weekly 100.00 to be paid toward the principal, they did not reply to this letter. They just went ahead and did as I requested. I am so satisfied with CareCredt and GE money bank. I also let them know I knew what I was asking was possible as I had worked in collections for many years and was a member of the CareCredit advisory team. I’m sorry everyone else is having trouble I LOVE GE MONEY BSNK

  • 101. Ray Holm    June 6th, 2009 at 1:25 am

I thought I was the only one having trouble with GEMB. Judging from the amount of complaints out on the net — I am not alone. I’ve had my Sam’s Club credit account credit limit cut twice within the last six months. What did I do to deserve this? I paid this account on time every month — never once was I late — for years! But suddenly, I’m a bad credit risk according to GEMB. Well, since there are other clubs around (BJ’s and Costco) — I’m cutting the cord to Sam’s. I’ve informed them of such as well as GEMB. I figure that I don’t need to do business with ANY company that allows their good customers to be treated poorly. GEMB needs to be taught a lesson here. Loosing customers, getting a bad rap with their business clients, getting a bad rap with the Feds and class action suits can go a long way in terms of accomplishing this purpose.

  • 102. Liza    June 9th, 2009 at 7:26 pm

Have anyone ever heard that landing institution withdraw from the check less than the face value? That is exactly what GE Money Bank did and make me late on my final payment on no payment no interest plan. My fight with GEMB is still not over. I am closing all my cards with this institution and I hope when it will go bankrupt, which will certainly happen, our government will not bail it out using our tax money!

  • 103. Deb    June 12th, 2009 at 1:14 pm

They need to be put out of business. If anyone knows of a petition or anything please post it. They are the biggest crooks. They say your late and you know your not. They just post it late. They closed some of my accounts and it wasn’t fair but they make up a lie. they are shasta heads.

  • 104. Julia    June 16th, 2009 at 11:34 am

I guess I’m not alone. We have had credit with Lowes for decades, before their credit accounts were backed by GEMB.

We don’t tackle major home improvement jobs every year, but when we do, it was convenient to go to Lowes, charge the materials, then pay off the balance over 90 days.

We received a letter from GEMB that our Lowes account was being closed. I didn’t understand the explanation they gave, but when I called, it all boiled down to not carrying a balance. That’s a pretty poor reason to close a credit line to good customers with a good repayment record.

We plan on reroofing our house next spring. We’ll be purchasing what we need at Menards using a line of credit issued by our bank.

I would also advise all consumers with credit accounts funded by GE money bank to pay off and close those accounts and use your bank issued credit card for purchases if you must patronize the businesses that use GEMB. Personally, I’m going to make it my mission to not purchase anything at stores who use them. Consumers can make a very loud statement by doing the same.

  • 105. Mel    June 24th, 2009 at 12:18 am

I paid off a $3,000.00 credit line on June 11, 2009 and do you know that those bastards decreased my credit line to only $500.00 after I paid them off. The funny thing about it is that I started with a $1500.00 credit line and I was never late. GE Money Bank/ Walmart Discover sucks.

I did not know that this company was such a rip off. Everyone understand that people are having hard times making ends meet, but this company is just a long shark.
I don’t have a problem paying a late fee, if I am late, but go up on my ARP from 11% to 30% this is just highway roberry.
I will never use this company again, and if anyone ask me about using them, I will point tell don’t do it. I am trying to find money to pay them off now because what they are doing is wrong, but they are now getting away with, but once the new law is passed, they will no longer be able to use this as an excuse to stela money from people.

I just got a Pre-Qualified notice in the mail. I’m sure glad I read the fine print and said to myself…what’s this GE Money Bank crap about? Then I looked it up and found these posts. Wow. It goes to show you should look up anything NEW you’re not sure about.

I have many accounts with GE money bank and they are all paid on time or paid off with every use. I have not had some of the experiences that you all have had. But, I have had GE to lower the limit on my Gap card after I used it around Christmas time. I had no previous balance on the card and did not know of the reduction until I received my bill and my limit wasreduced to $1 more than what I charged. When I called to inquire about the change the rep told me it was based on my credit, but I have an excellent credit score. A manager called me back and I pulled current reports from all 3 credit agencies with scores and faxed them over to her. She said she didn’t know why there were inconsistencies in their system but there was nothing she could do at the time. She said she would review my accounts the following month and get back with me. I never heard from her. But my problem is around Christmas I opened an Amazon card at the same time they reduced my limit and they did not reduce limits on any of my other cards. As a matter of fact they increased the limits on two other cards. So the process is flawed. I recently purchased a house and they approved an account with HH Gregg with a large limit, but my Gap card which has been paid off since the month after my purchase still has a tiny limit and no one can explain to me why. I don’t charge often; I have always paid my bills on time, they are still extending me credit. I just don’t understand. There is something within the system that is not consistent or fair. When my credit limit was lowered for no apparent reason it made me feel as if I did something wrong and I did take it personal. I guess I wasn’t as mad as some of you, but I would be willing to take part in any type of action that can repair the system.

I had a Mervyn’s account and obviously they went out of business. I attempted to pay my bill in may and couldnt access my accnt online anymore so i thought maybe i had paid it off cause that was my intention the month before but couldn’t remember and I let it go. about 2 month ago i received phone calls from this GE Money Bank trying to collect my debt and explained what happend. I explained my husband was out of work and Id make the payment as soon as i could afford it and i would contact them at that point. I dont even know how they received my cel phone # cause Ive never given it to any one except family and friends. I asked if I could pay in person somewhere or send a money order or pay online so i have some kind of a receipt and they refused sayin i had to pay over the phone. I refuse to give my bank info over the phone so i have yet to pay them anything. for the past 3 weeks I receive about 60 calls a day (no exaggeration here at all!) starting from 7-8 am til 8-9 pm. all come up unavailable. when i do answer at times they hung up on me when i say hello. after gettin into a yelling match with a lady i said to stop harassing me and she said she would call me in 2 minutes after i hung up. they are all rude @$$holes.when i asked for an adress she gave me a bogus kansas address! what can i do to stop this harassment i dont want to have to change my #. any info u have will help pls.

Don’t bother trying to find a phone number, unless you actually have a credit card or bill — it’s supposed to be on the back. However, file a written complaint to the Texas Better Business Bureau, 1005 La Posade Drive, Austin, TX 78752. Would you believe they rate GE A+? And file another with your state Better Business.

I just spoke with Alfred the idiot in India re my closed Mervyns acct that GE Money Bank has taken over. The due date on my last bill was changed and I didn’t know or realize it since I set up all my accts with special due dates so that I won’t be late. They charged me $39.99 because it was due on the 9th and they received the payment on the 10th. After much logic and also screaming, Alfred agreed to adjust $10.00 of the $39.99. WHAT, ARE YOU KIDDING? Adjust all of it or you will never see it. I promise that I will pay off everything except $29.99 and they can take me to court over that. Another thing, GE( General Electric) has always been an American based company; I just looked for the corporate office and found out the headquarters are in the Phillipine Islands. So much for American business. We ought to raise hell over the way that we are being treated as Americans by these foreign based companies and also by our own goverment.

Can anyone provide a toll-free number for GE Money Bank? I received some correspondence in the mail but I never applied for anything related to GE Money Bank.

    Thank you very much.

I have been trying to contact this company all day and only get the old “all the operators are busy”. I closed out the account I had with them in 2007 after they double charged me for dental services. Somehow they now think that I am still their client and have raised my interest rate to 29.99%….on what??? When I called the (877)317-5544 phone number listed by Google I am told to give them my 5 digit zip code. From just this information they told me that my last payment was $728.30 on 2-1-07 and my balance was $0.00. OK so by just entering a 5 digit zip code they can tell me this information (which is wrong by the way) but they can’t figure out that I closed the account not only by phone but also in writing. What is wrong with these people????

Thieves and lairs. Time for a big time class action suit against GEMB, methinks.

GE Money cancelled my lowes credit card. Their reason was I had too much credit. Even though I had no late payments on any of my accounts. That’s fine if they want to do that. I told them to never contact me again with any promos and don’t add me to any of their mailing lists. Not only did I get a flyer from Lowes, but GE Money sent me an email promo about their new Lowes credit card website. I sent them an email telling them I no longer want to do business with their company. Lo and behold, I get a phone call the same day from GE Money apologizing for the inconvenience. If any of you really want to contact them directly you can email them at media.relations@ge.com. This is their Lowes acct management info. You can also find the other credit card companies at www.gemoney.com. Hope this helps.

I filed a written dispute in April 2009, here it is Sept 2009 and I have not heard anything from them since May 2009 which all they told me then was that it may take 2 billing cycles to resolve the issue, when I called them in Aug 2009, the lady on the phone could not help me and acted like I was the idiot.

Wow folks, there are a lot of us. We are all over the net. Why is no class action being mounted on our behalf? Other credit frauds and duplicitous practices have been successfully prosecuted, why not this? Are they simply too large and intimidating?
My own situation mirrors many of what I read here, payments were not credited properly resulting in huge fees and charges. I’m headed to small claims court. If we all go, they have to hear. Our complaints are timely, the government is on our side and I think well documented, well presented cases will be heard and some justice may be served. Take action

It seems GE money owns everything. I am so ticked that I have vowed to get rid of every card owned by them. My husband has an account owned by them . He is filing bankruptcy so now they reported it a joint account which it isn’t..Now that he has filed it seems that this account is all mine and only mine. They have taken his name off and I had to give permission for him to talk to them about the account. HELP! What do we do about them?

I was recommened by my lasik surg. to go thru GE MONEY BANK. I was one payment behind and I lost my 1 year no intrest charge. I did continue to pay on time but the intrest is very high for that one time late charge. I have spoken with them and they will not work with you in any way shape or form. This company SU— EGGS.
If you don’t have the money to pay for it DON’T GET IT.
